Passaparola - The hamster wheel - Simone Perotti

The hamster wheel is turning, turning. We only ever stop to have a bite to eat and to sleep, but every morning the wheel awaits us. The more we move our little paws the less we think about things. One day, however, we will ...

The Merdellum

bacio-berlusconi-bersani.jpg

The PDL and the PDminusL have met up to avoid the “electoral shattering” and to bring “bipolarism” to fulfilment. Basically to have just two parties in Parliament. It’s the supersedence of the “Porcellum”: the "Merdellum”. Berlusconi and Bersani want to raise the bar, perhaps to 8%, cutting out smaller parties and the MoVimento 5 Stelle {5 Star MoVement}. There’s the risk that 50 to 60% of the voters including those that won’t go to

The big fat waste of Italian gas - Paolo Ermani

The gas that we import gets thrown out of the window. We could halve imports. In fact we waste at least half. The efficiency of our generating stations goes from 35% to 55%. Furthermore, the Italian energy system is strongly centralised and this brings about losses in the distribution. If we add in that the passive houses, that consume 15 kw/m2 per year, between 10 and 15 times less than a normal house, are almost non-existent, you can understand

“The potato is anarchical and the bean is a bomber. The carrot has always been a non-conventional weapon. The tomato and the artichoke are insurrectionists. The pepper is a communist. The kitchen garden is the final slap in the face of Power. The kitchen garden is subversive!” Beppe Grillo

The Europe of Goldman Sachs

goldman-sachs-europa.jpg
The ECB has made available 498 billion euro to European banks at 1% for three years. At the end of February another mega loan of 400 billion is coming up at the same conditions. The declared aim is noble: to get the economy to take off again with financing to the companies. The money is obviously ours, paid by the increase in inflation and the removal of facilities provided by the State to the real economy. I’d say in passing that the banking

Casale Monferrato, asbestos cemetery

casale_amianto.jpg
In recent years Casale Monferrato has been struck down by a plague that compares so well with the Medioeval ones, from smallpox to the bubonic plague. Up till now, 1,700 people have died because of Eternit. Each year there are an additional 50 to 60 funerals. The death factory has been closed down, but agricultural areas and zones within the town have still to be made safe. Obviously those in charge of the factory are at large. They knew

In memory of Steve Jobs

It happens. You wake up and the first item of news is about the death of someone. Yesterday Steve Jobs died. You feel a bit low as though a friend has died, a friend that you haven’t seen for some time, but whom you thought about every so often. You start to think that if he didn’t manage to conquer death, no one will manage to. And you feel more fragile. It’s a thought like that on an October morning like this. Good bye Jobs.

High speed corruption - Ferdinando Imposimato
Comments (4)
imposimato-tav.jpg
Ferdinando Imposimato is a magistrate who has always been opposed to the criminal management of the high speed network, starting with the stretch between Rome and Naples. For this reason, he has been marginalised in a bipartisan way by the parties and excluded from the Antimafia Committee. Judge Imposimato believes that the same risks of mafia infiltration can also be seen in the useless high speed TAV project in the Val di Susa. A project that is

To have the cover of TIME magazine devoted to Monti is more than deserved. The spread is under control. The bund no longer causes fear. The public debt is still the same as before, but it already has a better appearance. It almost seems rejuvenated. The Great Public Works are not stopping. The most important American base in Europe at Vicenza is not under discussion. If there’s a war, we are the first target, but we are proud of that. Our troops are joyfully safeguarding

At the inauguration of the Five-Star Movement in Milan, I sketched out the Movement’s Programme in broad terms. In the coming months, there will be plenty of time to discuss it online and to improve and amend the programme accordingly.
