Praise the Lord for the springs of water

gocce_acqua.jpg

Father Alex Zanotelli has said: “At least leave us the air and the water.” Up there someone was listening. The law nationalizing water was approved on Wednesday by the Lower House in a strange silence. When the rights of the utility companies run out, water will go back to being under the control of the Town Halls, the Provinces and the Regions.
In a sub-amendment to the draft law Bersani says: “The titles to the concessions for the source of water is assigned to public bodies.” Simple and clear!
Let the companies with private capital and those listed on the Stock Exchange stay out of our hair. Rain will no longer give stock options and dividends. And it will go back to being under the control of the citizens.
The sub-amendment is thanks to two green deputies: Angelo Bonelli and Giuseppe Trepiccione. After the Lower House however, there’s the Senate. And the law could be changed , blocked, adulterated. The blog is here for that: to make a list of the good and the bad. A small memory-jogger for the next elections.
The blog will give the names and votes of the senators and if necessary, an extract of their speech about water. I have faith and I believe that they will unanimously vote to give water back to the Italians. But I wouldn’t want it to happen that someone, out of pure friendship clearly, would want to favour the companies with the concessions. It’s impossible to say no to friends…
Water is a right and it’s intolerable that it produces profits.
But the public administration is a colander. Good point. Let’s clear up who is responsible. Let’s identify the employees and plug up all the holes in the aqueducts. It’s the usual question of inverting the cause and the effect that produces incapable public services and private speculators.
Let no one touch water or I will turn into Cain.

Sir
OBLIGE municipalities to sufficient funding of the water infrastructure NOT ONLY give them the RIGHT of supplying the public and opreate their plants. I could tell you a true story how disastrous it can be when a nearly bankrupt municipality privatizes the operation of the water infrastructure purely because it is unable to finance operating it. But as the owner of the water sources by low it is still remaining responsible to financing of major reconstruction works. Similar to the owner of a rented house: the owner has to pay for the repair of the roof not the tenant who is paying the rental fee. If you re-nationalize water without funding you could backfire at yourself and make those multiutility companies even more opportunities to increase their profit with your water.

Italian Institutions, clearly and by the widest margins have demonstrated their Competence, Efficiency, Legality, Transparency and last but not least Management skills!
As a reward for the above mentioned Giants leaps for Italian Kind, Water Rights shall be returned in the thrust of Regional, State and Municipal Hand.
As the current status quo’ of National Champions shows, see Telecom, Autostrade, Electricity, Train, Airlines, Health ect, currently under Institutional control are either gouging Italians or in bankruptcy preceding time.
Having established these Success Story the Pinnacle of Incompetence and Corruption have assured themselves and their posterity another milk fountain for a prosperous future (Their?).
Let’s get together and give a round of applause to these Idiots, while AEM&ASM join together under Municipal pocket control, Alitalia racking up 1.6 Bil deficit (For sale and best offer in the range of 0.0 to 0.4 Cents per share, estimated value 0.5 Bil of your money, looses approx. 2 Mil per day of your money under State Control!) while Telecom saga You know about this, Eni and Enel under investigation for gauging consumer etc etc.
Well well well what can You say, hail to Mr. Grillo’s faith, the Institution will not Grant Stock Option to you although rest assure their paycheck will go up golden parachutes will grow bigger while you monthly bill, stay tune for that!
Cheers, long live Italian Institutions

I might agree on nationalising back the water but... let's talk about efficient use of capital and resources' scarcity. Market based management should prevail
