We are the State!

In Bolognaís Piazza Maggiore there were dozens of people with me: architects, philosophers, journalists, economists, ordinary citizens, campaign groups, environmentalists, artists. No one has talked about them. No one has talked about what they said, their suggestions, their accusations. Their words were listened to by a square full of silent and attentive people that seemed like a church. Iím going to offer them to you one by one on the blog. This time itís Alessandro Bergonzoni with his magical speech: We are the State!

ďThanks, Thanks Grillo! A notable event. Notes for a notable event. Grillo has given us the way and for me the way is through the voice. We need to speak and to do, to combine the speaking and the doing. Signing. That is go and sign, letís go and sign, head, no mind, head. Use your head, otherwise itíll be us doing the penance! Itís us thatíll be condemned if we donít change. This time itís not bad manners to point out. A popular uprising. Grillo said the people must rise up to see whatís inside, whatís inside!
They go at 200 an hour the politicians. Certain politicians.
They have been investigated. And so what?
They have been convicted. And so what?
They wonít go away. And so what?
I am in the collusion. And so what?
I donít care. And so what?
And so what?
Itís speed this. They must be stopped for speeding.
We have to get our heads on. Put them on! We keep them on the bed-side table. Put them on! For life! For life! Otherwise it wonít work! Your head needs putting on! The ones who are lying in power soaking up the sun, are taking the sun from us. Donít I want the sun? I want the sun. Iím not asking for the moon. Itís the sun I want! Are we not bothered? Letís all look for the reasons! Letís use the sharp thinkers for cutting. The clever-scissors for cutting. Those who have been blown out. Down with those who have been blown out. We have not been blown out!
We are not going round like a propeller, we go on reaction. This square is a reaction! A reaction! Thereís a type of monarchy that we like. Itís Re (rex) for re-action and re-sponsible. They are the two kings that we want. Re-act! At times we are enemies of the dog but friends of the bone. We are conniving.
Letís rebel. Letís go back to what is beautiful (in Italian: bello) Letís re-bel. I want to get back to what is beautiful! The social, cultural, anthropological meteorology.
Where have we got to? The problem is not where we have got to, itís when are we going to start. Today! We start today! Now! Thatís the important thing.
You say: ďbut itís a form of violenceĒ. I donít like horrid bad violence, but since there is the beautiful and the good violenceÖ letís use the beautiful and the good violence! They have to go to sleep worried. Sleep worried. We canít just ask people for their autographs, we also have to say: ďno go!ĒÖ We are asking certain journalists that are asking someone who has not yet been convicted what he has done, or who are asking the father of a dead child what it feels like to have a dead child, we are asking those journalists to go somewhere else! Not there! This is not politics. Itís culture! Itís culture!
Who is the State? We are the State! Who is the State? We are the State! Have they been? No, no, I donít know, but they are not the State. They must be challenged. And is the State in a miserable state? I donít know. Letís try to be a capital letter State!
The man who is deserted spreads a confusion of sand and sells mirages. The people of the silenced ones do not exist! The silenced do not exist! Watch out for the media of mass distraction! Beppe Grillo has told us things that perhaps we could have known earlier. But there are the media of mass distraction! Some TV stations, some reality shows, some football, some hours spent messing around!
And meanwhile we are thinking of other stuff. Less chronicle illness. The morbid chronicles. Less chronicle, letís talk of other stuff. Too much laughing and they stay put. Enough laughing, we donít have to stay underneath! He has rung the alarm bell. Can we go up there and see whatís there and ring the alarm bells? This is the question. Intelligence and honesty are at the customs post. It wonít all get through. Letís go down into our heads, itís not enough just to go out onto the streets. Every day we can do an internal demonstration, in our own heads! Have we got a spirit or just a body? Itís a question. We are injured by illegal acts and we put the bandage over our eyes. The bandages arenít meant to go there. Internal protest.
The other question I ask is: itís important to know why Tanzi arrived there, what are we doing in the schools and the universities and creating industrialists like that? Whatís happening? This is the topic! Stop. The house of tolerance. Letís go back home. Letís tolerate no longer. We will tolerate no longer! The parties of the parties!
Thanks Beppe! Think! Think!
Alessandro Bergonzoni

Grillo:
Parla come Vanna Marchi!

I have been living in Italy for 10 years and I am always confused and frustrated by Italian politics....I've heard many people complain in bars or on street corners about what is wrong with this country but they will never UNITE and WORK together to change what is wrong, they are just letting off steam and not doing something to make a difference. Italians feel that they have to rip off the next person before they get ripped off....this is what is holding this country back from being a world leader. There is so much talent here, but not enough trust.....At least the food's great!!

Salve.

Povero DANTE.

Yes .. we must react.. we must loose our fear.
We must help all others to loose their fear and live free of manipulation.
The time has come to take back our authority.
We have given away the control of our lives for to long.
First it was through religion and now through politics and always with the threat of poverty.
These techniques work on our fear.
COMMUNICATION is the key.
Being UNITED and conscience that we are the people is the way to break the hold on us.
We are not alone but we are INDIVIDUALS that can shout together and be heard by all.
We do not want to be put in a group or given a title as this is a way to define and give us limits.
WE ARE SIMPLY US AND WE WILL HAVE OUR WILL RESPECTED.
This must be international as a free Italy would be a great threat to the control over the americans and other mass manipulations.
They know there time is limited and they will hang on for as long as they can, and while they remain, also the control over our policies remains.
They have no scruples or ethics and they are the ones who live in the most fear of all. They are also victims and under DIRECT control.
No Italian politician would resign voluntarily as this would be suicide, and be bad for the forces that give him office. The same forces that put Bush, Blair, Brown, Berlusconi and all the others in power to create chaos and fear and justify their very existence. We trust that they have Empathy but they have none.
Without them, we don't need them.
Without fear, we don't need to compete with our fellow humans.
They will resist and will stop at nothing to divide us. They brought down the towers to justify atrocities, and they will break our web if this is the threat. We must open our eyes and see their tactics.
The more we see .. the more we understand.. the more we find our courage..the more we offer hope.. the more freedom for ALL.
Turn off the TV and look at your fellow worker or friend or the stranger in the street.
He is NOT competition for your survival..he is your freedom ....as you are his.
Italy can do this for the World..and the World is ready.
Love and Gratitude
Robert

Thirty years and more ago I married an Italian and although I have never lived in the country have made regular visits every year. How is it then that after so much time I still don't understand how the country functions.

Every country in Europe is controlled by an elite and things are beginning to change thanks to the European Union and Globalisation if not all for the good.

However in a democracy people get the politicians and party they vote for. At the next elections if enough people can be persuaded to change their vote those who do not deserve to be elected would be forced out. Propose and put up alternative candidates if the system allows it.
