Italian elections in the USA
This time the Italian Consulate in Philly reached me. As an Italian citizen, I can vote for the elections of the Premier and renewal of the Parliament of the Italian Republic.
Very good, let's see the options.
First off, it is great to see that, for once, there are only 4 parties running. Let's see who I can give my vote to. mmh. I wonder how they determined those candidates. Browsing quickly through the list, I am at first surprised, then more and more pissed off, seeing that most of the candidates are from the South. Now, I am not a Leghista nor a racist whatsoever, but I would have prefered to see a representation more spread through the territory. Indeed, these are the options:

SENATE
Party: PD (former Communists)
Mr. Turano from Cosenza (Calabria)
Mrs. Piazzi from Bologna (North, that's good)

Party: UDC (minor party with no hopes)
Mr. Seracini from Firenze (another one from the North!)
Mr. Coco from Latina (Lazio)

Party: La DESTRA (former fascists)
Mr. Cirnigliaro from Catania (Sicily)
Mr. Misuraca from Cosenza (again!, Calabria)

Party: PDL (Berlusconi's bunch)
Mr. Sorriso from Agrigento (Sicily)
Mr. Basilio from Cosenza (again!, Calabria)

HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES

Party: La Destra
Mr. Frattalone from Caltanissetta (Sicily)
Mr. Corrado from Rome (Lazio)
Mr. Gilberti from Avellino (Campania)
Mr. Trotta from Naples (Campania)

Party: PD
Mr. Bucchino from Reggio Calabria (Calabria)
Mrs. Ciminata from Messina (Sicily)
Mr. Marra from Crotone (Calabria)
Mrs. Vitale from Naples (Campania)

Party: PDL
Mr. Arcobelli from Catania (Sicily)
Mr. Ariemma from Campobasso (Molise)
Mr. Berardi from Isernia (Molise)
Mr. Sassi from Milano (yay, one from the North!)

Party:UDC
Mr. Rosini from Palermo (Sicily)
Mrs. Mancuso from Canada (ok, an outsider)
Mr. Cucchi from Frosinone (Lazio)

END OF OPTIONS

Now, have our Parties ever heard of Mafia, Camorra and 'Ndrangheta (Sicily, Calabria and Campania) ???
Who am I supposed to vote, who will represent me as a Northern Italian hard worker?
Nobody in the lists from Veneto (my region), Trentino, Friuli, Piemonte, Aosta, Liguria, Umbria ???
Ok, let's see who these people are, I look them up on Google and I find that half of them are totally unknown on the Internet, the rest have a generic propaganda page with very low content of information about them or their ideas. Some have very ugly faces too.
ARE WE KIDDING OR WHAT ???

Aren't I lucky ... I have received a personal letter from Silvio Berlusconi. It is so personal that he addresses me as Tu (with a capital T), which I really do resent because I have never met the man and considering he is asking me for my vote, I think I deserve a little more respect ...

My fellow Italian citizens (tens of thousands of them) living in Australia received the same letter ... unfortunately (or fortunately) many of them won't be able to read it because a very high percentage do not speak, read or write the Italian language. I would have thought a world-class entrepreneur (he thinks) like him would have had a little more foresight.

Hello everyone,
I sure can elaborate.
Here is what someone wrote on this blog about what’s a possible solution rather than the choices offered (Not verified or ascertained!)
ESERCITARE IL DIRITTO DI RIFIUTARE LA SCHEDA (DOPO VIDIMATA), dicendo:
Please inform if anyone is able to verify this possibility!
Thanks

Enough is the right word indeed! I do admire Beppe Grillo as he has been trying to raise awareness among the sleepy italians: there is no actual freedom in this country, everything is controlled, manipulated and soporific. I have recently left Italy to work in another country and I am trying to get another contract abroad again. I just cannot tolerate to live in a country like Italy for a very simple reason: I totally agree to Beppe's cry, enough, enough.......
And, how can you live in a place where the prime minister is a psycodwarf? I used to vote centro-sinistra and, like thousand pthers, I was highly disappointed once again. Italy is an old country, it does not believe in the young generations and everything is controlled by bloody lobbies. I am a little pessimistic but I shout: go ahead Beppe!!!!

Hello everyone,
As usual lately Italy is the World spectacle of Incompetence, Ineptitude and Bad Management.
The same people responsible for the current and ongoing demise of the above indicated Country are in the race for another shot at kicking the horse when is down.
Mr. Grillo rightfully brings to the forefront the obvious inconsistency in Italy, the apathy and the blatant corruption infecting all the Institutions of this one time very proud and prosperous Country.
It’s my feeling that Mr. Grillo’s cry for some Justice, is the first sign of evolution of the Italian archaic and feudal system.
Welcoming this as a good start, I do realize that evolution is undeniable, relentless, consistent but more importantly slow.
It takes generations to evolve, because it’s a change of the State Of Mind, is a change of Priority, is a change in Requirement, is a change that today Italian Manager can’t even get their brains to comprehend it.
These buffoons Politicians pursue the carrier first and foremost because they couldn’t make hands and meat any other way, and to fit in have to comply with the law of the Lowest Common Denominator.
Reading Italian Newspapers especially in election time, all the Parties Pinnacle talk about Political Faith, Political History, Political Beliefs, Political Morals and on and on?
On each and every one of these arguments all of them have scooped so low and compromise their Integrity and Credibility, to the point they have to rehearse their speeches hundreds of time in front of a mirror not to crack up and fall over laughing.
This election is a big waste of time and money, you know it, they know it, although everything continue just like in a soap opera where you already know the finale, the bitch will sleep with all of them.
Evolve, spread the news, anyone can change one mind at the time, these Idiots have sank the Institutions to a disgrace and without any penalty for them.
Don’t vote them again, someone wrote that is possible to register your vote for no one and register yourself as not represented by any Party.
The future looks bright wear shades, sorry I am laughing at the idea of these Politicians on the unemployment line trying to get a job any job (While filling out the application and responding to the question Salary Currently Earning $$$$$$$$ for doing nothing good for you!)
Thanks

just on the issue of media... SOS! I used to watch RAINEW24 with some relief..until the old director left and Corradino Mineo was appointed new director under the government which I had voted..this channel has been going through "RAIfication"
an example? instead of the "inchiesta" ( groung breaking like the fall out of white phosporous on falluja..) by Torrealta.I find at 730am on RAINEWS24 the same people who just got up from ballarò chairs the night before.. I protested in various emails with obviously no reply..
ciao to Beppe..flavia donati

It's well time to say "enough!" to all this crap, before the boot sinks in a sea of shit.
