The inaugural Veltrusconi government has been installed. This has doubled the number of ministers. Each minister now “also” has a shadow lackey. Topo Gigio spoke like Cicchitto. Tar Head offered him the new millennium P2 membership card with built-in ATM card. Kryptonite Di Pietro was imitating Giacomo Matteotti. The Democratic Party members did not applaud him. They were too busy wearing out their hands in support of the psychodwarf. They are the opposition after all, but they are “also” the government. A government in opposition. Together we can do anything. Forleo could have herself placed under investigation and then transferred away from Milan. Travaglio could institute proceedings against himself and then get himself thrown out by RAI. Anno Zero could be shut down. Finocchiaro could continue to defend Schifani. It can be done. The separation of responsibilities between public ministries and judges. The judges’ legal dependence on the Government. It can all be done. Changing the Constitution. Gagging the media. Paying out billions of Euro in fines for Rete 4. Prohibiting the publication of the content of telephone taps. It can all be done. Finally it can all be done. The gathering of signatures calling for three referendums for free information in a free State continues unabated. The signatures will be delivered to the Court of Cassation during the month of July. Within the next few weeks, Beppe Grillo will be calling for the cancellation of the annual RAI licence fees on a national basis. Beppe Grillo will soon be launching a campaign for bloggers to spread the news. All of us are journalists. The truth is a right and spreading the truth is a social duty. On the Internet, we are all upstanding bearers of the truth. They will never give up, but neither will we.

This might really help you!!! THe Captiol Hill Blue has removed the quote by President Bush, as the source was unverifiable dec 29th 2007.

Regarding the Italian Apathy, all of my friends who I've contacted from the age of 40 to mid seventies, very rich, including a famous Italian singer guitar player, to a taxi driver all confirm the apathy that you Beppe are doing noble work but in the end is of little use. Further, they are in a state of hopelessness and helplessness.

Whether you like or dilike the last election results of G.W. Bush it was legal. It didn't shred the Constitution.

Bush's moral compass doesn't shred the Constitution either.

"Signing statements of law that G.W. Bush "approved..." What statements what laws?

You really must stop drinking the far left koolaid.

Beppe --Buona fortuna!

John, if you're from the wrong generation then I'm primordial. Grillo is being too generous (to say the least) when he qualifies all the commentators on his blog as "all journalists".It's hard for me to see how a few disconnected, cryptic phrases on anyone's blog qualifies the author as a "journalist".

To be sure nobody expects bloggers to be Hemingways, and no one has to pass a writing test to comment on them, but the fact is that to go on a blog some writing skills are necessary.

And if Grillo's aim is to make his blog a catalyst for the vast political discontent seething in the in the country, can he allow freewheeling and open participation even when freewheeling and open participat has nothing to do with the blog's concerns?

Should Grillo, start narrowing the wide-open information highway leading to his blog? Should comments be mediated? And if comments are screened, on what basis should they be screened?

It would be interesting to hear from others on this.

What is the process from there?
Call me cynical but but if the Judges are already in the pockets of the goverment then what good is a set of signatures submitted to them?

I am not sure that I understand what exactly this will achieve. Anyone care to help me out here?

Maybe I am from the wrong generation but I find the vast majority of bloggers that I have read to be boring. Is spreading the news via bloggers really going to change Italy?

Ed, you wrote: "I would suggest to send this post to Grillo..he may be willing to see the intimate relationship (in my view) of the GW Bush thinking and the PsychoDwarf thinking...dangerously similar..something like..from the same book"
I've been saying the same thing for many years. SB is worshipping at the neocons' altar and using the same tactics. For instance, I smell a rat in yesterday's Repubblica's attack (with Il Corriere drooling in tow)on Travaglio. They are using Karl Rove's tactics in a not too subtle way. (remember the attacks on Kerry like the imaginary Swift Boat Veterans for Truth?) I am sure there will be lots of garbage like this being produced in the near future.

Bene signori ..... l'itlaia o l'italietta ...
vivo a melbourne ,australia .

David, this might help you"

George W. Bush on the Constitution

* "You need to have a president who understands you can't win this war with legal papers. We've got to use every asset at our disposal." --May 13, 2003, ABC News' Nightline.

* "GOP leaders told Bush that his hardcore push to renew the more onerous provisions" of the Patriot Act "could further alienate conservatives still mad at the President from his botched attempt to nominate White House Counsel Harriet Miers to the Supreme Court.

"'I don’t give a goddamn,' Bush retorted. 'I’m the President and the Commander-in-Chief. Do it my way.'

"'Mr. President,' one aide in the meeting said. 'There is a valid case that the provisions in this law undermine the Constitution.'

"'Stop throwing the Constitution in my face,' Bush screamed back. 'It’s just a goddamned piece of paper!'" --Reported in Capitol Hill Blue, December 9, 2005.

I applud Beppe's efforts yet the weight of Italian apathy that anything can change might be too too much.

Gabriella, a question, which parts of the American Constitution did Bush shred and please give specific examples. I'm anxious to know.
