Federico Aldrovandi: licence to kill

Federico Aldrovandi trial, police officers found guilty
(9:25)
aldrovandiprocesso.jpg
Paolo Forlani, Monica Segatto, Enzo Pontani and Luca Pollastri are police officers. They are people who are free to move and do what they want. They have not been thrown out of the police force. They killed a lad called Federico Aldrovandi by beating him up. Yesterday they were found guilty by the Tribunal of Ferrara of culpable excess in culpable homicide and sentenced to 3 years 6 months. The murder of a young man, if you are in uniform, is worth 3 years 6 months and you are not even dismissed. It’s like a licence to kill. If four young men had beaten to death a police officer what sentence would they have had? And would they have kept their jobs? I am asking Manganelli, the head of the Police, in the light of yesterday’s verdict, to dismiss the convicted police officers. Their presence in the police dishonours all the honest ones.

From the courtroom at the Tribunal of Ferrara:

Blog: "Judge Filippo Maria Caruso of the Tribunal of Ferrara sentenced the four police officers to 3 years and 6 months in prison. They were accused of culpable excess in culpable homicide of Federico Aldrovandi, the 18-year-old man who died on 25 September 2005 during a police operation. The people concerned are Paolo Forlani, Monica Segatto, Enzo Pontani and Luca Pollastri, who with the benefit of 3 years due to the Great Pardon, will not spend even a minute in prison. In fact, the officers have not even been dismissed as they are still in service. The verdict at the first level came shortly before 7:00pm, after a day of summing up from the prosecution and the defence and scores of hearings starting in October 2007. The first act in a tragedy is thus concluded. Of what turned from being a normal verification to the beating up of a young man who was just 18 years old, who was unarmed, with no previous record and even handcuffed. The prosecutor, Nicola Proto who had asked for 3 years and 8 months, said that Federico was ferociously killed while his pleas for help went unanswered, as stated by two witnesses who happened to be in the area of Ferrara’s race track, where the event took place. An imprudent scuffle that degenerated into beatings about the head as well as on the arms, legs and back, being dragged along the asphalt and the squashing of his body by one of the military that led to the death of the young man from hypoxia as well.
Like Riccardo Rasman, Federico Aldrovandi was handcuffed and placed facedown before he died. The results of the medical forensics showed bruises and haematomas all over his body, including a cut to the head around the in occiput, squashed testicles, a deep wound to one buttock and scratches on the face.
According to the hypothesis of a cardio pathologist from the University of Padua, professor Thiene, it is thought that Federico’s heart stopped after he received a violent blow.
Furthermore, the recording of the telephone conversation with Headquarters in the minutes immediately following Federico’s arrest, leaves little doubt: “we really beat him up. Now he has fainted. I don’t know. He’s half dead.”
So basically, according to the prosecutor, the homicide took place in a condition of disproportionality between any level of psycho-motor agitation on behalf of the young man who was alone, disarmed and handcuffed, in relation to the condition of the police officers who were in a team of four, all sober and even armed.
The violence of the blows was such that in fact two of the truncheons broke.

Beppe,

This is a heartbreaking case. Are there any systemic reforms underway to make the police more accountable? Amnesty International noted that this was a problem, back in 2007.

Sono disgustata, scandalizzata. Triste.

Da cittadina italiana all’estero da 15 anni, ho sempre cercato di mantenere una certa fierezza continuando con i miei piccoli e grandi dubbi a voler essere Italiana a tutti i costi.

Oggi no. Oggi basta.

It would be interesting if, at a press conference of the G8, the President of the United States is asked for his reaction and what he supposed the reaction of Republican party, Democratic party, the NAACP, national media, and the majority of Americans would be, had a prominent elected member (Republican or Democratic) been caught on video singing racist songs laced with heavy insults against Blacks? Perhaps the President may deem the question inappropriate, hypothetical or perhaps he may shield himself behind a diplomatically correct reply; I don't know. But should he express his thoughts openly and in a forthright way, he would give us an idea of how serious the racist Salvini's chorus, caught on tape, is. Even though Salvini resigned his seat in Parliament and as city councillor, he is a member of the European Parliament. Considering Europe's history, it's shocking to know that a racist is allowed to decide on the future of Europe. As a racist Salvini ranks up there with David Duke, the well-known anti-semite, former Grand Wizard of the Ku Klux Klan, who viewed a black presidency as the apocalypse of the white race just as Salvini sees immigrants as the apocalypse of the so called Padania. Bossi, Salvini's political boss, dismissed Salvini's racist chorus as a "boys will be boys" prank. But, it so happened that Calderoli, Minister of Simplification, replying to critics of the bill recently passed allowing the the repatriation of immigrants without visa, said no one will be exempt. And, that even the much needed personal support workers, nursing the elderly, will be deported. Only he didn't refer to them as personal support workers but called them "personal sexual workers" and "personal drug workers" or "whores and drug-pushers." It's ironic that someone from Veneto, a region from where thousands of poor women migrated to do domestic work, blithely refers to foreign migrant women as "whores and drug pushers." Salvini and Calderoli speak volumes about the values of their party.

This information would have set Greece on fire again, just as in december 2008.
What does it take for us Italians to wake up?

Well,
this information would be enough for Greek cities to go on fire again, just as in December 2008. What does it take for people in Italy to wake up?

The system must protect its servants, as it depends on them to protect itself from the people it pretends to serve, and represent, ( whilst knowing full well that the reality is exactly the opposite behind the propaganda lies and the cosmetic democracy ) as it knows that without them it would collapse.

As you rightly pointed out in one of your previous
articles, " Have you ever seen the riot police beating up bankers or politicians ? "
This is obviously not happening by accident, and it is so in any country, and it has been so throughout history.

The use of violence to protect the system, and keep the population under control, has always been
not only condoned, but it is an essential part of
the system of control, but normally it is not necessary as, with people whose conscience has been put to sleep through the use of television and medias, and who have been conditioned to care much more about football, holidays and celebrities gossips, than about truth, justice and real democracy, you do not even need the truncheons and the tasers to keep them under control, but you just keep them on standby, just in case people wake up.

We all have to take our share of responsability for allowing a system that allows this kind of events to take place, to exist in the first place. For being happy with cosmetic democracy and cosmetic justice, instead of real ones.

It is not by accident that, in every country, there is a growing number of bullies in uniform, who enforce "zero tolerance" policies for the general population, and are trained to treat people like criminals for the most absurd petty things, whilst for the political and financial criminals, and for the system's servants, there is always plenty of tolerance, and they can do whatever they want, and none of the system's servants will move a finger as, with honourable exceptions, they know where their thirty pieces of silver come from.

All the Hitler and Stalin in history could not have existed, if it hadn't been for the millions of little Hitler and little Stalin who were happy to serve them.
