The Ligurian PDminusL of cement

The blog is mobilised against the cementification of Liguria wanted by the axis of the Ligurian cement mixer PDL- PDminusL , in which the PD-man Mario Tullo towers above the others. Thanks to you, the most shameful amendments have been cancelled, the ones that allowed for a 60% increase in the volume. However there’s still a shameful law remaining with building filth like the increase in the size of the houses in the parks and the inclusion in the size increases even of the houses that have been amnestied.
We must not give up!
Let’s send an email to Claudio Burlando, Sandro Biasotti, and his opponent in the forthcoming elections, Luigi Cola – the PD deputy who holds the record for amendments, and Nicola Abbundo – the PDL property entrepreneur who is fighting for this plan. “Dear Grillo, At times we even need to have trust. Hope. After the articles in the newspapers, after the mobilising of this blog, and the hundreds of emails that have arrived at the Region of Liguria, perhaps the wall has been knocked down. The housing plan that the Centre Left wanted to have – and supported by the PDL, that was at risk of giving the green light to the definitive cementification of Liguria seems to be crumbling. The Majority has decided not to present the most shameful amendments, the ones that allowed for the increase in volume up to 60% and that also included buildings that are industrial, for artisan work, and agricultural. Basically, the plan is less devastating, even though it is still a slap in the face for the environment: there is the possibility to enlarge the houses in the parks of the hinterland (and the Monte Marcello park) and there’s the risk that even a part of the amnestied buildings are to be included in the “reward”.
And there are still other thorny points to be sorted out: Roberto Della Seta, Debora Serracchiani and Pippo Civati (members of the PD who have to be given recognition for having sided with the environment) have made weighty accusations: “This is the worst housing plan in Italy. In the PD, there’s a cement lobby.” are the words of Della Seta. The accusation from the Greens was: “We have gone further to the Right than Berlusconi.” But no word of denial has come from the Ligurian PD. In fact, Mario Tullo the man stepping down as the PD Regional Secretary for Liguria, replied: “Let them mind their own business.” But the moment of truth will be tomorrow, 28 October: the Region of Liguria will vote on the definitive version of the housing plan. And there are those who are frightened there will be an ambush, an underhand manoeuvre to save the cement: the amendments from the friends of the brick could be presented by the Centre Right and voted on by a branch of the PD. That way the plan of shame would be the approved all the same.
For this reason, we are asking you to keep on following us. Tomorrow [today, editor] to keep your eyes fixed on what is happening in Genoa. Don’t leave Liguria isolated.

Last night on Ballaro' there was a bit of drama when Casini was about to walk off the show protesting the Sgarbi style debate. And he was right, when he said that the shouting of the honoroble members of Parliament showed no respect for the Italians watching the debate and pointed out that show belonged to the politician who shouted the loudest, drowning out everybody else's point of view. Casini is right. Enough already with the shouting and drowning each other's arguments. The Itaian foreign policy came up and how other foreign leaders see Italy's role in the world and of course, Afghanistan. I got a feeling that Italian politicians don't understand how badly the war in Afghanistan is going for NATO. It's going so badly that one of the most influential conservative intellectuals on the American scene, George Will, wrote back in September that the war has gone on much too long, and that the strategy of "clear, hold and build" is a failed policy. He argues that Taliban forces know that "the U.S. forces will forever be too few to hold gains.." there will never be enough forces to hold gains made. He calls for the immediate ending of the conflict to save people from dying in a usless war and to stop the financial draining on the country. And he is not the only voice against the war. Yesterday, a high official of the State Department, quit his post in protest against the war Last night, the Italian Minister of Defense, La Russa, was flattering himself as he reassured Italians on how well regarded Italians are among their Western allies. Well, if that's the case, then a recent report assessing NATO"s role in Afghanistan was none too kind towards our soldiers when it quoted a high ranking Western intelligence source , "Nato in Afghanistan is a fragile enough construct without this lot working behind our backs. The Italians have a lot to answer for." Of course, he is referring to the death of twelve French soldiers after the Italians failed to inform the French that the Taliban were paid not to attack. Echoes from another war? Our allies seem to think so.
