Interview with Beppe Grillo on 'Anno Zero', 10 February 2011

Beppe Grillo - - When they had the ‘Italia Nuova’ gathering in Milan yesterday, on the front row there were those who have up until the day before been devastating. De Benedetti was there, a Swiss citizen who has devastated the most extraordinary company that we had.
Annozero - Are you talking about the event with Saviano?
Beppe Grillo - - Yes, there were these folk listening, yes with expressions of reforming the country.
Annozero - However it was full of people. What sort of signal is that? How do you interpret that?
Beppe Grillo - - Well it’s a signal that they use certain people like Saviano to make the young people believe in a Left Wing that has never existed, because when you go into the town council meetings you realise, when they want to do a new stretch of connecting motorway, or a motorway, a nuclear power station or privatise water they are both in agreement.
Annozero - So you are saying it’s a bluff?
Beppe Grillo - - Absolutely. It’s never been. They all have to go home. They have been there for 35 years. No one has given you an eternal mandate. Off you go. While you are alive. And they’re alive because they are getting a billion – a billion – I’m telling you – a billion euro as election expenses. Take away the money and politics becomes marvellous. Otherwise the money is politics. And politics becomes money! It’s simple; we’ll send them all packing. We don’t need to be represented by these amateur scoundrels, defeated amateurs. They don’t even manage to understand what an incinerator is, what differentiated collection is or what a cycle track is. They know absolutely nothing. They put their trust in experts, experts put there, they pay fees to incredible people. They do skyscrapers with these architects with sick minds that do skyscrapers that are all crooked, they go down in history for having done that and for getting the city into debt.
Annozero - Why did people vote for them?
Beppe Grillo - - But who voted for them? Here you are, you have to stop thinking that we voted for this lot here. We have voted for no one. These parliamentarians have been appointed by five party secretaries. We have voted for coalitions that don’t exist, that didn’t exist. When Berlusconi got 30% within that there was the AN with 12% and thus Berlusconi got 18%, and 18% of 67% that went to vote and 11% of those who voted gave their vote to Berlusconi. 11% and thus 4 million people, an insignificant little party, a tiny little party. He’s a loser, this man, he’s an old man with no prostrate, without hair that he’s lost politically, 4 million people with ten TVs, a hundred newspapers, a billionaire, and without an Opposition, is a failure, is the past. Against them who are you putting up? Who are you putting up against them? Casini, the one that said that Cuffaro had given an extraordinary signal by taking seven years and going in without remonstrating, he gave a sign of civility.
Annozero - Bersani?
Beppe Grillo - - Bersani who wants to privatise water because he is pretending he doesn’t but he wants to give it to Veolia, Bersani who wrote a letter – at the time he was Minister of Industry, to the Minister of the Interior against the doctors from Emilia Romagna who told him: “you know that incinerators are killing children by giving them cancer”. He wrote to the Minister of the Interior telling him to take action against the doctors.

Good to read this on Saviano. Had suspected as much, and this just underlines it. Italian national politics is rotten to the core and the only viable way is anarcho syndicalism.. the very same format self-organizing grassroots which has been saboutaged for more than 90 years.
