Does Beppe Grillo’s blog make us stupid?

"Grillo, stop. Will you stop, please? Stop, Grillo. Do you want to stop? Grillo?” The blog, started in January 2005, let’s confess, has upset the apple cart for everyone. Many internauts have not coped with the daily liver complaint and they have given up. They have lost their sense of judgment. Perhaps they are smoking hashish on Mount Athos or they’re reading books by Veltroni and by Renzi. I understand them and I feel responsible. I hear them in my night-time nightmares “Grillo, my mind is going”. “I can feel it; I can feel it, goodbye.” How many victims has the blog got on its conscience? “No living organism can keep a sane mind for long in conditions of absolute reality.” Shirley Jackson.
The blog should be prohibited. I know. The collateral affects are first of all angriness and then apathy, resignation, loss of self respect, signing up to the first party you bump into in the street. You get overcome by reality and you take refuge in madness. As soft as the “news items with four veils” of the TV news, pure toilet paper. Light, light, like the headlines in the newspapers, what is there today, Bungashima or Fukubunga? The news items have to be like Gaber’s “shampoo”, like your mother. Information “is a good thing, like a mother, that caresses your head when you are sad and tired, an enormous mother, a mother in white!” The journalist has to protect you from reality, not destroy your neurons. Each one of us has only one life. It’s tiring having to think. It’s more restful to go along with the opinions of others. Legitimate defence by the news media is the removal of the blog. I understand them. They have to do it. They are not doing it for themselves but for their readers. L'Espresso in a long article: "Internet, the information battle" does not mention the blog among the websites of the dailies and not even in the publications that come out only online. It’s not there. And in its piece called “Blog, this is how the economic crisis deletes the free voices from the Internet” Il Fatto Quotidiano does a preventive deletion of the blog by attributing it 250,000 visits a month. And that is what’s right. The blog hurts the newspapers and also their editors. Five million two hundred thousand visits a month cannot be tolerated. And not even more than 80 million visits to the YouTube Channel, second in Italy only to the RAI in the category "Notizie e politica" {News and politics}. Or a tiny presence on Facebook with 575,000 members and a ridiculous number on Twitter with about 80,000 followers or a daily newsletter sent to more than 500,000 subscribers. How many people have I got on my conscience? Too many for a blog that doesn’t exist.

BEPPE, DON'T STOP!! WITHOUT YOUR RANTS, I WOULD BE WITHOUT MY DAILY DOSE OF ANGER, AND LAUGHTER. "ANGER AND LAUGHTER ARE NECESSARY FOR ONE TO REMAIN SANE IN THIS INSANE WORLD"--SCIASCIA. (IF HE DIDN'T SAY THAT, HE SHOULD HAVE.)
