Fukushima level 7 incident

Fukushima, travelling in silence
(12:00)
fukushima_silenzio.jpg
The alarm at Fukushima has got to level 7, the same as for Chernobyl. It was announced by Tepco. When it was said by Greenpeace and other organisations, it was possible to doubt. Now no longer. Fukushima has set off the overtaking indicator in relation to Chernobyl. But after level 7 what else is there? What is waiting for us? Is there a level 8 or a level 9? We’ll only know by living. A nuclear and environmental disaster of this magnitude has never happened in the history of mankind. Quite possible hypotheses are suggesting contamination getting more extensive towards Tokyo. In this case it would be necessary to evacuate 35 million people. Japan would be transformed into a New Atlantis in front of our eyes. The reactor core is in meltdown. It is penetrating the earth and if it meets up with strata containing water it will explode and release into the air a cloud that will make "The Black Cloud " in Fred Hoyle’s novel pale into insignificance. The cloud will go where the wind takes it, to Korea, to China or even to California where traces of radioactivity have already been found in milk. Fukushima is not a Japanese problem, it’s a problem for humanity. The UN has found the time to have Libya bombed, but not to tackle the consequences of Fukushima. The world is dominated by lobbies chasing filthy lucre. The nuclear industry gives a good return, so good that Fukushima has disappeared from the news. It’s not nice to talk about death at home, it makes the customers run away as well as the advertisers, like ENI and Enel, for example, or the swarm of enterprises referring to Scajola and Ms Marcegaglia. Part of Japan has died forever. It’s disturbing to hear the word: “forever”. We hear it but instinctively we resist it. We don’t believe it. Today we are publishing a Japanese video, a journey in the hell around Fukushima, where everything is silence, an immense nuclear cemetery without signs of life, for dozens and dozens of kilometres.

Ernesto Burgio and Angelo Baracca have sent me a letter against the affirmations of Veronesi, the irresponsible sponsor of the PDminusL of nuclear power, as well as being one of their former senators. Veronesi must resign from Agenzia per la sicurezza nucleare italiana {the Italian Agency for nuclear safety}. Let him do it for us and for his past.

Veronesi’s air of ostentatious superiority
The interview that Veronesi gave to La Stampa leaves you gobsmacked for the air of ostentatious superiority with which the professor lets himself go with affirmations without supporting scientific evidence, risking to make an extremely complex topic seem trite and by conditioning public opinion with his own “authority” when public opinion is ever more obliged to suffer the media attacks from the powerful nuclear lobby.
