Passaparola - Good and bad - Enrico Ghezzi

"I believe that by paying taxes you are above all paying one tax, an authorization, even a modest one, we can see this today, itís mean, mediocre, but not owing anything to the politician towards whom you will throw yourself, towards whom you will be able to express your thoughts wildly, too harshly, because you have given what was necessary for expenditure, while thereís absolutely no way you can control the spending and thus itís just a pious intention. However, I have to say that when you hear it said like that, this divide between those who pay taxes and those that donít, makes you immediately want to be a dodger not to dodge taxes but to dodge this polarity that is even worse than the preceding ones and even more ideological. At this point it becomes a matter of indifference to find the reason why you try to have money, why should you not become bankrupt, the reason is purely one of being conservative.
Try to imagine models in which you lose something, even a lot, but obviously earning in another sector, these are things that are definitely worth making the sacrifice for, but however, we are all doing that, but not in these crisis years, this is the sacrifice that has allowed the world to get to this crisis point so easily, because it hasnít just arrived at this crisis point, it found itself face to face with it which means that speculatively it was found to be within.Ē Enrico Ghezzi

Passaparola with Enrico Ghezzi, Italian film critic, writer, author and TV presenter.

Easy demonization of the merchandise and of the packaging
ďThis is a piece I wrote for il Corriere della Sera on 07 December 1993. Thereíll be a few cuts. It came out like this and the heading in my newspaper was: Tremble, Tremble, the Talking Beppe is back.
Itís not just chance, or itís a great chance, that Beppe Grilloís talk show on TV, on RAI Uno, took place in days when there was electoral turmoil, changed elections, polarised in accordance with the law, in the case of mayors, around individual faces and perpsonalities and culminating with the incredible success of the face to face.
Grilloís final triumph, more than 14 million viewers, can seem amazing, even though it is the last and clearest demonstration of a tendency for TV and not for the whole of Italian society.

...

The sacrifice for the Crisis
I donít know why I read that and whether it is appropriate to the space that you are offering me. I donít think I have occupied a TV space, certainly not voluntarily. I am, and I was about to say ďwe areĒ, but Iím accepting personal and subjective responsibility that I might perhaps have imposed it on others, but not in a violent way, but in an automatic way, I strongly believe in automatism, and even in that associated with TV, what is artistic, and life is automatic in some way, everything that is dragged along, or that goes ahead OK on its own and from which we can extract, by seeking and finding, by activating certain attention, really our own average situation in life.

...

We have few TVs
From this drug that is oneself, that at times gives us extraordinary moments, moments of intensity, but that is surely, if protracted, if made into a narcissistic body armour, truly a wall, that prevents us from seeing, from loving, finally letís say that autonomy is something that is half way between identity and independence, (but thereís no end to this discussion,) I believe that we must always be on the edge. Being on the edge, then means that whether or not it is true, mathematically, arithmetically, for example in any election I would like to vote for the loser and help him to lose a bit less, even if itís a person I donít hold in high regard.

...

We are not stars, not moon, caves, cavities, cave and cavity, both.
Happy viewing.
Happy viewing.. propagandaÖ good view wing, OK. Donít make me play with words, because Iíll keep going on ... I wish you a Bergonzoni lasting 12 hours.
