Dario and Franca you are great

fo - rame.jpg

Dario Fo is 80 years old.

ĒTo him and to Franca we say: you are great.
Great because at your age you still can cause annoyance to those on the right and on the left.
Because you have invented a theatre that is ancient and yet we didnít have it before.
Because I have seen you at times a little bit poorly and suffering, but you got up onto the stage
and no one noticed.
Because you have taught theatre in more than a hundred schools.
Because you have never given up.
But you are not too big, in the sense of adults, you never look old,
not at all, but you keep the prodigious, young energy of naughty children.
You continue to argue and to be fond of each other like two young kids.
You have become modern and technological: Franca has organised her own site
an internet site with a million gigabyte, and Dario is putting his mind
to it so that by 2008 he will be able to send an email.
Thank you for the renal colic that you caused to Italian bigwigs when you got the Nobel.
Thank you for the help you have given to thousands and thousands of social realities.
Thank you for having made us love Italian TV once upon a time, many years ago.
Thank you because my son was born happy,
two days after his mum came to see you at the theatre and laughed her heart out.
Thank you for your tiny and massive triumphs,
but also for all that you have suffered, and that you never grumble about.
May you have a hundred evenings and days like this one, and loads of ďencoresĒ.

Stefano Benni (the wolf) and Beppe Grillo.

IT IS A FANTASTIC THING THAT THERE ARE AROUND PEOPLE LIKE DARIO & FRANCA, AND ALL THE PEOPLE LIKE THEM.
IT GIVES ME HOPE ABOUT A BETTER FUTURE FOR ITALY.
I HAVE A DREAM: ITALY WITHOUT BERLUSCONI, ITALY WITHOUT THE POPE, ITALY WITHOUT A USELESS LEFT PARTY, A PARTY OF LOOSERS

Hi George,

I did not see "il Caimano" yet but this is another work for which Moretti should be greatly thanked.

Moretti is our "civil coscience"

THANKS NANNI!

I saw Dario Fo perform "Mistero Buffo" years ago here in New York City, and it was a revelation. He and Rame are an inspiration for all politically engaged artists and cultural workers.

Speaking of political Italian artists, has anyone seen "Caiman," Nanni Moretti's new documentary about Berlusconi?

Hi Franca and Dario,

You are just great and thanks for having represented Italy like just both of you did.

I was really hoping that Dario Fo could have chance to challenge Ms Moratti as mayor of milan.

Kind Regards

Dear Domenico Schietti,
I want to thank you for all you said on your post. The official soccer organizations should have much more attention to this kind of problems, especially in Africa.
Thanks again

Come on Dario, this is the right campaign for you!

World Soccer Championship 2006 and villages for Children: thatís a scandal!

The World Soccer Championship 2006 are approaching.

FIFA has promoted a questionable initiative to build 6 villages for orphans.

But they still have time to change their proposal and build 500 together with 50 hospitals to grant free health service all over Africa.

The news, allegedly published with fee, runs like this:

--------------
ď6 villages for 2006Ē is the slogan and goal of the official humanitarian campaign for the World Soccer Championship promoted by FIFA and SOS Childrenís Villages.

The challenge is about collecting enough funds to build 6 new villages in various continents thus offering a house to many needy children.

In many developing countries, poverty, unemployment, debts are daily problems and the children often pay the price for growing up in families with social and economic difficulties.

You can find all the article at this link:
World Soccer Championship and Villages SOS: http://www.sositalia.it
--------------

We think itís a ridiculous campaign. Obviously itís clownish and with advertising aims.

FIFA is one of the biggest world organisations. If some of our friends managed to open the House of Childhood, why do they want to open only 6 villages for children?

We want 500 villages for children promoted by FIFA. And 50 hospitals in Africa in view of the World Soccer Championship in South Africa in 2010.

We think that a charity initiative should be linked to each soccer match.

With an average of 200 millions of people watching each match, if, during the break, everyone sends a SMS (some 10 and some none) of 1 Ä to build villages and hospitals, itíll be 200 millions of euros for each match.

We want 500 villages and 50 hospitals in Africa otherwise we wonít turn the TV on not even for a minute.

Just 6 villages? Are you kidding? FIFA, you are just clowns!

If you donít act like this, the World Soccer Championships will turn out to be a huge waste of human and economic resources.

Time is money.

How much money is the time spent by TV viewers in front of their TV worth?

How could it be differently used?

You still have time to change the course of action.

So, come on, you can make it, donít be scared!

A house to the children who lost their parents!
Free health service in Africa!

Come on, letís put pressure on FIFA, thatís a unique chance!

I will go to Alcatraz in Umbria this summer to visit their son's world.

Have a look at the website

www.alcatraz.it

I am sure their son got the same parents spirit and I hope to share it.

Ciao,

M.G.

I went to have a look on the other side and I found only 50 comments about Fo and Fr. All the others 110 are about politics or mediocrity which in Italy it means the same. What a pity. There is no culture about the beauty anymore. Albertazzi said: Since 100 years we are distroing the beauty. So, for what to have geniuses? Panem et circenses said a roman imperor...And Berlusca did his TV.

I love them both.
Franca Rame is a Goddess: I bow before thee!
Dario Fo: what a genius!
Long life to this amazing couple.

I agree with you!
I like him very much, and Franca Rame too!
They are great artists and a beautiful couple!
I wish I'll be like them, when I'll be old!
