Intercept diarrhoea

The country is over the top. Not just the Government. The whole country.
Government and Opposition, both Holy ones, have blessed a decree to burn illegal intercepts. Heretical intercepts. Bonfires in the Procura. The next time it’ll be the turn of the judges, not a bonfire, just a tiny scorching will be enough. The speed, the rapidity and the political consensus (unanimous) of the decree give citizens grounds for legitimate suspicion. That the illegal intercepts contain proof of illegal activity.

The question to be asked is:
"Is it legal to destroy illegal evidence of acts that if they are illegal, relate to our parliamentary representatives?"

If you ask them, the reply is “yes” without a doubt. An unconditional “yes”. But if there’s nothing illegal in the contents of the intercepts, why not allow the magistrates to decide whether to use or destroy them? The shit oozes out all over.

The fear of the politicians to be caught in the act by telephone conversations is a legitimate fear. Probably well founded. But useless. They have to stay calm. Italy is not Hungary nor is it Thailand. If any information about the politicians were to be reported in the newspapers, the Italians, after healthy indignation, true and valid, would turn straight to the sports pages.

No one is asking who ordered the intercepts and why they were spying. The names of Buora and Tavaroli are OK for playing marbles with. The executors of the executors of the executors at the most. Third or fourth level. The ones used for the dirty work. Perhaps someone inside the institutions was directing the game. Let the government, if it has the energy, but I doubt it, turn on a light to shine on the brains behind this and not a bonfire on the intercepts. The game of who is it?

If it’s not the parties, it’s not Telecom that has suddenly become a State within a State, it’s not Licio Gelli (for reasons of age), it’s not organised crime (they have no need), there remains the secret services, Bin Laden and the doorkeeper at Pirelli. And it’s him that will pay for everyone.

The scientists assert: The purpose of the Scientific Community is this: If there are new phenomena it help us to discover...

With the paranormal, however, lacks the object of the study: each time that we're trying to understand If the phenomenon exists we discover that disappears..The PSYCHOKINESIS not exist..

The purpose of the Scientific Community is this: If there are new phenomena it help us to discover...

"Nobel Prize guaranteed for all, and we remain in the world of science, certainly it would be a huge discovery".....

Dear Martino, the difference lies in the fact that if someone was presented with an electric motor few centuries ago there was something concrete to study and review, and I have no doubt that with calm and with the necessary study of scientists they might understand the functioning and progress with acquaintance….

With the paranormal, however, lacks the object of the study: each time we’re trying to understand if the phenomenon exists the phenomenon disappear and not anything remains to be studied. It is a bit like the same thing that happened one time with the telescope to Galileo: he said that the earth revolved around the sun the religious of those time not wanting to believe. Someone say today, those who say that the paranormal exists is misunderstood as Galileo. In fact, it is not so. Galileo his telescope put him at the disposal of anyone who wants to look inside but there are even today the obtuse that don't want watch, today,on our part there is an extreme curiosity to look into the telescope of paranormal, but supporters of the occult to keep the telescope well hidden and maybe even they have not…!

Official Science trough CICAP. CISCOP. ( Commitee for the Scientific Investigation of Claims of the Paranormal) Assert: " the observation completed scientifically of only one 1 authentic Paranormal Phenomenon, would constitute the greatest DISCOVERY than all the times. Fundamental the science like Physic and Chemistry and of continuation all other disciplines that on they based would go rewritten. A conceptual revolution of immense capacity would derive some and all the human knowledege deeply would be modified"

Nobel prize guaranteed for all, and we remain in the world of science, certainly it would be a huge discovery....

From all investigations conducted so far, however, is clear that all the times that the alleged paranormal phenomena have been studied in depth, has always found a perfectly normal explanation. The only cases where some doubt remains are simply those in which it has been possible to carry out investigations (or because of the past, or because they happened once, or for other reasons). This confirms once again what we jokingly call law Angela (with reference to the well-known television Piero, founder of CICAP): regarding the alleged paranormal, … If controls are to zero the phenomenon tend to a hundred, if controls are one hundred phenomena tend to zero..

Auguro a tutti la Pace interiore...I wish all the inner peace...

You know, Paola, sometimes we get enlightened a bit too late!! The move to the UK is not imminent but decisive, though Italy has a place in my heart...

Posted by: Joselle Camilleri | September 27, 2006 01:47 AM

Why move back to the UK know that you are beginning to understand the Italian way of thinking....???? :o))
Once a rumor is out that there COULD BE a POSSIBILITY of something to be done in the FUTURE, in Italy it means that it has already been done!!!
By the time the public hears about it, it has already been in practice for a few you see why the Minister was worried....!!!

ps.My friends, there is no Frank nor Astolfio(Bongo) but a member of the Simpson Brothers who is desperately trying to change his destiny...but his use of words betrays him....

Posted by: paola filinesi | September 26, 2006 01:44 PM

Leave the bananas and the OT aside for a moment. Did you watch, by any chance, "Porta a Porta" aired on RAI Uno yesterday [25/09/06] about the topic of this post? It appears that for a moment the Minister was worried someone might hear his conversations with his girlfriend (sic. - his words, not mine!!!)

Correct me if I am wrong but shouldn't it be the investigating Magistrate to issue a warrant for a go-ahead to intercept and tap phones when there is some criminal or illegal activity, or the suspicion of it, going on? From yesterday's programme I couldn't make two hoots on who can actually order such interceptions.

Besides, as always, too much confusion when it comes to discuss something... it must be the Mediterranean character then that prefers to be litigious rather than convincing when discussing.

[ASIDE: I still cannot understand what Frank's post had to do with THIS particular topic. Besides, cutting and pasting an article instead of writing the link is simply bad taste and the usual waste of time.]

And in Canada 60 cents a Kilo. You should move to Canada if you are a banana lover :-)

Enrico if can make you feel better,at the moment banana in Australia cost australian dollars 10.99 a kilo, since we had the hurricane in Queensland they are a luxury, straithing up banana at this time would be a lucrative job, ciao :-))

Well I wonder....Teheran is still the capital of Iran, isn't it???!!!

Posted by: paola filinesi | September 26, 2006 10:44 AM

A, defend your opinions with logical arguments instead of puerile expletives.

Posted by: Enrico Rossi | September 26, 2006 03:59 AM

Your initials are--appropriately--the same as Emergency Room, which is where you should be.

You are so confused, you need help.

When you recover, you should go back to your activity: straightening bananas. And good luck with that! But it's hard to see any other employment for you.

By the way, where in my post did you see the word IRAN? Or "preemptive strike against Iran", which you claim I am advocating!??

When YOU WAKE UP, dude, go get yourself a pair of glasses and... a brain!

Posted by: Astolfio Quintrugli | September 26, 2006 12:46 AM

F and A, you are so off topic that I might as well start talking about various techniques to straighten bananas. Anyway A, you can't get away with defending Israel's criminal actions in Lebanon. Israel lost big time, particularly in the PR department. Now you are advocating preemptive strikes against Iran without thinking that Pakistan under a Fundamentalist regime could join forces with Iran and obliterate Israel if so wished. Wake up A, the time when Israel was fighting children with stones is over!

Posted by: Enrico Rossi | September 25, 2006 10:37 PM

The message is:

They wanted to fu*k'em up pretty good. And they did.

The Lebanese can have fun cleaning up now--and the next idiot will think twice before messing with Israel.

Israel is stuck in the corner: the madman in Teheran wants to wipe them off the map and no one's doing anything. Their best strategy is a credible threat of very strong retaliation.

MEMC & Agencies - Wednesday, 20 September 2006, 03:24

Following on a statement by an Israeli commander that the Israeli army fired at least 1.2 million cluster bomblets on Lebanon during the war, the majority of which were fired when hostilities were largely over, the United Nations humanitarian coordinator verified that number and harshly criticized the Israeli use of cluster bombs.

“The outrageous fact is that nearly all of these munitions were fired in the last three to four days of the war,” David Shearer, the United Nations (UN) humanitarian coordinator in Lebanon, told a news conference in Beirut Tuesday.

The United Nations coordinator added, "Most bomblets were fired by the time the conflict had been largely resolved in the form of Resolution 1701", adding, “We know these (cluster) munitions have a failure rate and it seems to me extraordinary that they were fired off in the last hours of the war into areas where civilian populations were known to be going,” Shearer said.

“For a humanitarian person, it defies belief that this would happen.”

Meanwhile, UN Emergency Relief Coordinator Jan Egeland has called Israel “completely immoral” for using cluster bombs in residential areas.

Shearer, the UN humanitarian coordinator, said that Israeli authorities have not given any explanation as to why they fired so many cluster bombs just as the war was clearly drawing to a close, nor have they responded to a UN Request for the map coordinates of the cluster bomb strikes to hasten clearance efforts.

It is estimated that 30-40% of the cluster bombs which were fired by Israel failed to explode on impact, and remain a tremendous hazard for civilians who have returned home. Since the war's end, at least 15 civilians have been killed in encounters with unexploded cluster bombs, and 83 wounded, of whom 23 are children.

Only about 17,000 of the unexploded bomblets have been defused so far, and the United Nations says it could take up to 30 months to destroy most of the unexploded sub-munitions. The British-based LandMine Action group has said clearing the south could take a decade.

Clearance efforts have so far focused on villages, schools and playing areas, but will soon shift towards farmland, which provides 70 percent of household incomes in the south, said Shearer.

“The cluster munitions are stopping farmers from getting out to their fields and resuming their farming activities,” he said.

The statements from the United Nations officials verified the statement of the Israeli commander who resigned last week, who said at that time that the army he commanded had “covered towns with cluster bombs", admitting “what we did is insane and monstrous”. Over 1,000 civilians were killed during the 34-day Israeli invasion of Lebanon in July, many of them by U.S.-supplied cluster bombs fired by the Israeli military.

You wrote: "If any information about the politicians were to be reported in the newspapers, the Italians, after healthy indignation, true and valid, would turn straight to the sports pages"

My indignation: No, as an Italian, I save a printout of those who recently voted for the "pardon" and, at next poll, I'll not release my vote to any party hosting names (even a single one) from such a list.

Not even to the far right, however, so that I'll probably be left with little chance. Unless the course changes, with politicians retiring. Why not? It is an idea. Fixing a term for politicians as in all public jobs. Think about.

cheers, francesco

All Italian politicians are nothing but a bunch of scumbags. I get physically sick any time I think of Italian politics and I am relieved that I lived most of my life away from this devious scheming and despicable behavior.

Posted by: Enrico Rossi | September 25, 2006 03:38 PM

I fully agree with your comment. The fact that all parties agree in destroing the files is the demonstration of the shet we are in.

The Italian government doesn't stop to amuse me,when I think that with the indulto we reach the bottom, here we go with another surprise, the twist in the telenovela, what is going to happen next?!anybody like to bet on?

Posted by: evakulnurae | September 25, 2006 01:04 PM

I believe that intercepting telephone calls is not right to begin with, no matter what the reasons are.

Private telephone calls should be handled like bank accounts, they are private; once there are sufficient evidence, then the courts should allow/or not interception.

With today’s advanced technology all data can be retrieved, proof of illegal actions can be established then not before, to support other already existing evidence, not to establish a primary case.

Posted by: paola filinesi | September 25, 2006 12:50 PM

While it is not wrong to disallow unauthorized phone line tapping, one worries whether this is a ruse to ensure that those about to be tapped will be informed so that they can avoid problems ie continue with illegal activities. This is not good, of course, but even I am not happy that each and everyone of us could be tapped upon the whim of whosoever. However, the motivation behind this so called 'reform' is not clear and based on past goings on it is not at all clear whether this reform is for the best or the worst. Most people will fear that the latter reason will take precendent. Time may tell, but then we will probably never know the truth.

Posted by: Alex R | September 25, 2006 12:07 PM

Hallo, I agree with this, but I propose at list one national manifestation for not to burn these interceptation but give it to the magistrates, is time to clean the illegal activity in Italy...
