The Marquis of Grillo

The TAV is going ahead. Base 2 at Vicenza is going ahead. We’re in the Lebanon. We’re staying in Kabul. The conflict of interests is of no interest. The election law is just fine as it is. The “ad personam” laws are even useful to the Left and they are not eliminated. The pardon has even been of use to the Left and that is why it got voted in.
The government listens. It’s always listening. It’s a good government. It does things that don’t even please its Ministers. Who aren’t pleasing to the Italians. But they are very pleasing to the Americans, to the bankers, to the pretend industrialists, to the pretend journalists, to the local house of liberty.
Prodi Marquis of Grillo doesn’t know what to say. He’s often silent. Sometimes he raises his voice but just with his wife. The message that goes out to the Nation, loud and clear, is always the same: “I’m very sorry, but we are who we are and you are nothing!”
To get elected as a mayor in Italy you have to be a former Trades Unionist or a millionaire. The result doesn’t change. The arrogance of mayors and of local cabinet members as witnessed daily in this blog is without measure.
The Broni-Mortara costs 900,000,000,000 Euro, the companies in the area are against it, as are the residents. But it is going ahead. The people of Milan don’t want the Zona Fiera to be disastrously entombed in tons of cement. But it is going ahead. The people of Serre don’t want a mega tip to destroy a wildlife reserve.
But it is going ahead. The TAV in Val di Susa will cost 13,000,000,000 Euro. It’s of no use. The experts say so. University professors. The Valley is in revolt. But it is going ahead.
My tour has started recently and even before I arrive in a town, the mayor and cabinet members declare that they don’t want to meet me. Even though I haven’t asked to meet them.
The local administrators and politicians should be representing the citizens. There are a few thousand of them compared to 58 million Italians who count for nothing whatever they do. Does this seem normal to you? How long can it last?

Here we go again....
Less than one year after the elections and another government is collapsing, falling apart, losing those weak links that were helding together this sort of house of cards.
I have the awful feeling that we are now the joke of western europe, and even some of the eastern countries could easily make a loud laugh looking at our political situation.
Italy looks to be going backwards, as is doing from long time as far as I can remember.
Left, center, right, doesn't change a thing, will never change, until there will be an ENTIRE new class of young politicians, ready to fight the system, without fear of stamping some "vip feets", telling only the truth to the many many italians so fed up of the lies upon lies of the current politics class, the conflict of interests, the waste of public money, the idea of being considered just like noisy insects by the ones that more than any other should LISTEN to their concerns.
Italy needs desperately more people like you Beppe, but not only making the buzz or move the masses into the squares, stop talking, please, everyone sadly is good at it....
Who has enough courage and balls to guide the country out of this deep well?

Another Government goes down the tube! If the Electoral Law is not drastically changed Italy will slide into anarchy. Now the nano will start fanning his peacock feathers to mesmerize once more the disgusted Italian voters. Poor Italietta!

Reset? No, Format!!! E d'ora in poi solo Linux!

Dear Beppe,

you should regard it as a mark of honour, that our
employees try to avoid meeting you, even before you get to their towns.

They know that what you say is true, and that is the one thing they cannot face, they can only hide from it, facing you would mean facing their own
conscience, something they are obviously not looking forward to.

They know you have real integrity and real honesty, things they probably understand only as
some strange, far away concepts, things they have to pretend when they are on stage, telling us the
things they would like us to believe, hoping that
we are stupid enough to believe them, but are not too sure what the real thing feels like.

With your honesty and integrity you are setting an
example that they cannot match, you are reminding
them the choices they should and could have made, as opposed to those they have actually made; you are reminding them that they could choose what is right, and what is true, not only what is easy and convenient, or what they are told to do by their puppeteers, hiding behind the scenes.

Be proud that they fear so much meeting with you, many of them have probably compromised all their lives and always put greed first, in order to get to positions of power but, in spite of all their appearant power, and high positions, they cannot face a man armed only with the truth and with a clean conscience.

There is a lot to learn about these people from
their running into hiding and avoiding you.

Well done Beppe !

Keep setting a better example, some of them might reach the point where they decide to break ranks,
and finally choose what is right instead of what
is convenient, and real changes, not only cosmetic ones, will start happening.

Thank you for all your efforts.
