Side effects

Are your children vivacious? Wonít they stay seated at the table and sometimes do they disturb the teacher during the lesson? Do they not sleep?
Quite probably they are hyperactive children, suffering from ADHD, Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder.
The pharmaceutical companies have found the solution: antidepressants and psycho-pharmacies. Celexa, Zoloft, Ritalin, Luvox, Prozac, Effexor, Paxil.
As explained on the video by the channels ABC and Fox News, the side effects can be embarrassing. Self harm, suicides, homicides, heart attacks. The child is quieter lying in a tomb. You can go and visit them knowing that they canít harm themselves any more, or run off somewhere. So many worries reduced. So many active balance sheets for the pharmaceutical gentlemen and their lobbies.
If your child is vivacious, thatís good, not bad. Donít take them to the doctor or the psychologist. Take them by the hand and go for a walk. Hug him, hug her, tightly, with a kiss. They donít need to get better from anything. They just want your attention.
If someone suggests that your children take antidepressants or psycho-pharmacies, make them read aloud the side effects given on the paper inside the box with the pills. Then you read too.
Cannabis is forbidden and Ritalin is sold. Letís do the opposite.

Pfizer pharmaceutical corporation has a corporate policy of discrimination against individuals over the age of 50 in both employment and advancement. Yet their highly questionable product line that includes liptor and viagra along with the bulk of their commercial development TARGET older users worldwide. The products of this firm, not utilized for the preservation of life or eradication of disease should be boycotted.

Dear Beppe be careful with people that use this blog to criticize or advertise web sites that are promoting hate to religion. Those sites like Massimo F. is advertising are well known to be organized by a very small group of people that are considered anti -religion extremists and sponsored by big pharma : the very same guys that are cashing in by selling these harmful drugs to "cure" our children.
Please delete any of those posts which do not do anything good to people that really want to save children from psychiatry/big-pharma greed

5HTP seems to be a good alternative to any commonly prescribed antidepressant.
No side effects and very effective, more than any other antidepressant.
In uk there are groups of people that are supporting each other against the influence of doctors who deny the efficiency of this drug (The reason being their ignorance/arrogance or some convenience in prescribing pharmaceutical products for some gifts/presents in return from the pharmaceutical companies.)
I don't know how it is dealt with in italy, if this product is in the italian market at achievable prices or not yet.
As Beppe rightly said in the only show I've seen so far, the reason for people suffering is mainly one: ignorance(self-caused or not).
There is much more to say about good alternatives in medicine as prevention and as a different way of thinking/seeing life.
Thanks for this space.
Thanks, Beppe, I was sincerely moved when I saw a show of yours on a dvd. Hope you are very well!

I will never understand the criminalisation of cannabis, or the implicit assumption that dangerous substances should be illegal just because they're bad for the health.

Ok, perhaps it's harmful for my health, then what? Do I need to be arrested too on top of that? Would you, as parents, decide to give up control over your life and the life of your kids to complete strangers or would you instead prefer to listen to them, help them and correct them on your own?

P.S.: about schizofrenia, cannabis is a revealer and a stimulator. It amplifies the senses and the needs and might trigger and expose a latent problem. But of course, you probably never used cannabis, so you have no idea what I'm talking about (why am I wasting my time?). ciao.

Beppe, while I agree on the dangers of Ritalin and similar products, I would also avoid using any content even remotely related to Scientology like the video you posted. The cult of Scientology always attempts to discredit the professions of psychiatry and psychology, but their agenda has nothing to do with saving children or denouncing bad medical practices: it's a "think of the children!"-like propaganda that many politicians use because it hits straight to the heart of the listener.

Today, the number of deaths caused by the cult of Scientology is even greater than those caused by Ritalin, so I'd be very careful.

More infos here:

I think it would be appropriate if you told publicly about relations, if any, between you and the cult of Scientology.

Even mischievous is not right, in that it invariably means not malicious, teasing etc. The only real word in English for these children is ill-behaved.

Pharmaceutical industries are amogst the largest multinational money making machines... so it's no wonder the only focus is selling drugs regardless.

PS. Vivacious is most certainly not the appropriate word to use, maybe mischievious (have I spelt it wrong???)

Ciao Beppe,

Dear Beppe, I agree with most of your post. Except the part on legalising cannabis. Maybe as a medicine it would be wise to do that. Clearly, it would ease the pain of lots of ill people and possibly cure some illnesses.
However, there is growing evidence that smoking cannabis is related to developing mental illnesses, such as schizofrenia (see and the story of Terry Hammond's son and
I think there is not enough research as yet, therefore recommending a legalisation is dangerous.

Ah sorry.
The medicines kill more people than accidents car.

Posted by: biancospino | June 27, 2007 12:29 PM

Beppe I am in full agreement with your sentiments (although maybe not legalising cannabis), and that a child suffering from ADHD should not be prescribed noxious substances which make the pharmaceuticals money, but should be given a hug and sympathised with. However, ADHD is symptomatic of bad diets, too much coca cola, too many additives, too much junk food. Parents must take responsibility for this.
The use of the word vivacious in this instance is wrong though. Vivacious always has a positive implication, full of high spirits, lively, vital. A vivacious person is attractive, outgoing. A child suffering from ADHD is irritable, overactive, over-excitable.
